Hospital Senior Medical Superintendent Abidan Chansa says the hospital is in need of an emergency area.

Dr. Chansa says the current hospital infrastructure does not have an area where emergencies can be attended to without interruptions from other patients and members of the public.

He said the emergency room would help the hospital in the delivery of health care services more efficiently.

Dr. Chansa was speaking when he met Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kan’gombe who was at the hospital to give hampers to babies born on Christmas Day.

The Mayor said he supports the idea and would engage the private sector for assistance once the costs of the project were available. Mr. Kan’gombe said he would ensure the project commences early 2020.
